Clean Ports Policy Advocate
Bertha joined EHC in January 2024, coming with extensive experience in advocacy and organizing. She worked on a national scale by organizing folks around the country on policies that benefit working people. Later, at Climate Action Campaign, she worked as an Organizer and Co-Manager of the San Diego Green New Deal Alliance, coordinating outreach with community members, volunteers, and partner organizations to build community power and advance climate campaigns.
She graduated from San Francisco State University with two BAs—one in Anthropology and another in Women and Gender Studies. At San Diego State University, she graduated with a Master’s in Women’s Studies and an Advanced Certificate in LGBTQ+ Studies. She taught in the Women’s Studies department focusing on topics such as intersectionality, transnational feminism, environmental racism, feminist science studies, borderlands, and queer theory. At Casa Familiar, Bertha created programs that taught youth a variety of skills such as career preparedness and college readiness.
Her passion is to help empower her community to create change within their lives and build a future where they are empowered and prosperous.
